Enjoy the rolling and steep hills of this ridge-hugging and valley-embracing open space, which has sweeping views and excellent mountain biking (with wide enough trails in most spots, to keep hiking safe, unlike it’s neighbor, Saratoga Gap).

- This leg of the Bay Area Ridge Trail connects with Saratoga Gap (across Skyline Road) and Russian Ridge.
- Long Ridge has some lovely hilly fire roads, as well as narrow single track.
- This is a very popular area for mountain biking.
- Enjoy seeing wildlife including rabbits, deer, squirrels, lizards, and snakes.
- Enjoy the wide, sweeping hills.
- Watch birds glide and soar in this wide open space.
- Enjoy views of the Santa Cruz Mountains from a rocky bench or a manmade bench.
- Limitations
- Very limited parking off the road where Long Ridge and Saratoga Gap meet.
- Stay on the trail to avoid ticks.
- Keep an eye out for poison oak.
- The initial hill up from the parking area has ample tripping hazards and is moderately steep, but once up to the T junction, Long Ridge becomes much more inviting.
