Vibrations Make Music

Materials:

• Kleenex Box
• Rubber Bands of different sizes
• Ruler

Procedure:

1. Adult places rubber bands over Kleenex box, making sure some of the rubber band is over the opening.
2. Child strums rubber bands.
3. Adult hold ruler end firmly on table or counter top.
4. Child strikes or quickly pulls the end.
5. Discuss the sounds heard and where they came from.  Which rubber band sounds lowest or highest?  Why?
