My four year old started transitional kindergarten at the end of August and our entire household is learning to adjust to his new school schedule. Our weekly hikes to Coyote Hills have been replaced with morning walks to school. Since my son has to stand in line prior to being let into his classroom, we also bring books to read while waiting for his teacher to welcome his class each morning. Although we no longer see egrets as we did at Coyote Hills, we still search for various animals on our morning walks to school. This morning, we saw birds, kittens, ants and ladybugs. Although we aren’t able to go to Coyote Hills during the morning anymore, we still spend time after school riding our bikes, hiking and enjoying campfire dinners while savoring our time outdoors.
