Tahoe Camping

If you’re looking for more ways to get outside with your kids to appreciate nature, learn, and have fun, camping is a great option.  Elise shared an option to join her Coyote Grange this summer – a fraternal organization celebrating classic family values and outings, including camping.  Membership is free for this year, so cost commitment is only for camping.

Our local Coyote Grange is participating in Grange Summer Camping this year.  I’m sending out the invite since they are hoping for about 20 more signups in the next few days.  It’s being held at the 4-H camping ground (before they start their camp).  The rates are terrific and meals are included!  There will be lots of kids.  Plus the Grange is offering free state membership to new members through the end of June (see below) .  Sign up quickly though as spaces are limited.

This summer we will once again camp in a private forest on the shores of beautiful South Lake Tahoe. The facilities are clean and accommodating, with very nice cabins and our own private beach! The dates are June 11 – 15, 2014.
Imagine… waking up in your cozy cabin from a peaceful night’s sleep and meandering down to the dining hall, where hot coffee and a hearty breakfast await you.

What are you going to do today? Go on a group hike through the ancient Native American meadow? Go swimming? Try your luck at horseshoes? Take a mask-making workshop? Or just relax with a good book under the tall trees. In the evening, meet at the campfire for some marshmallows and the sing-along. Take in the movie in the dining hall, or play board games over a cup of hot cocoa. And, of course, there’s always the camp Talent Show!

It’s the best vacation bargain around. The fees are $150 for adults and $125 for youth (age 7-21) and $75 for kids (age 6 & under). This includes four nights lodging and all your meals. Everyone is welcome at Grange Summer Camp. Come by yourself or bring your friends and family. There’s plenty to do, see, and share. Camp is limited to the first 50 campers.  Please register by filling out the form online at

www.californiagrange.org/news/camp2014.html   The form says to register by 5/28, but the deadline has been extended.
