Blessings–Stroller Hikes Weekly Newsletter (1)

BLESSINGS

Happy Memorial Day Greetings to you all! Looks like our long weekend is off to a beautiful start. This is Amy Lim, and I’ll be writing the newsletter for the next couple of weeks on behalf of Debbie who is soon to welcome her sweet baby daughter into this world. Hooray!

As you join with family and friends to celebrate, relax, and as a side-effect possibly gorge yourself with too much yummy food, I’d ask that we all reflect on the great blessing of living in the United States of America. We have an abundance of freedom, goods, beauty and recreation…especially here in the Bay Area. Of great priority and worthiness, let us be grateful to the women and men who have fought for, and continue to fight for, our country, our freedoms and the plight of countries who have so little and/or have lost so much.

This newsletter will have to be shortened due to the excessive auditory bombardment of crying and screaming from my children who are dead set on being millimeters away from me at every waking moment…or at least it feels like that. I am very grateful for them :o)

And…just in case the rain comes back. Enjoy the Play-Doh recipe below to help you create and explore indoors…

KOOL-AID PLAY-DOH (smells great, but still NOT EDIBLE)

Makes enough for 2 to 4 children

2-1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
3 Tbsp. oil
1 Tbsp. alum
2 pkgs. (small) unsweetened Kool-Aid (any flavor)
2 c. boiling water

Dissolve Kool-Aid in boiling water. Add oil. Slowly add small amounts of dry ingredients, stirring constantly. Turn out mixture onto table or counter and let cool until easy to handle. Knead until smooth. This is very yummy smelling but not edible. Easy to do for the little ones!

HERE ARE THIS WEEK’S EVENTS:

Tuesday, June 1st at 1:30 pm join Amy B. and her wee ones for a hike at Shoreline Park in Mountain View/Palo Alto at 3070 N. Shoreline Blvd. The trail is paved, so it’s great for all strollers or kid carriers. Meet at the lake next to where the sailboats are kept (to the right of the cafe / bathrooms building) in Shoreline Park. There are plenty of play structures and a beach for toddlers – we’ll stop to play after the hike! Sorry, no dogs allowed. For information about the park and directions, see Shoreline Park Page and Emily Renzel/Byxbee Page. If you’re running late, call Amy at 408-368-7161. http://www.strollerhikes.com/Hikes/Shoreline/Shoreline.html
