This Week’s Events

Saturday, Nov 26 at 11:00 AM: Santa Teresa Family Hike (San Jose) – Join Audrey and little Leo for a Family Hike from the Fortini Trailhead of Santa Teresa County Park in San Jose. Bring the whole family for this wonderful hike through the grassy hills, overlooking farmland. Bring a picnic lunch; we’ll probably take a break next to the creek, under the old oak trees. The trail is jogging stroller-friendly, and we’ll encourage the kids to run and walk. Kids are welcome to bring bikes, as long as they can stay with the group; this is a popular mountain biking area, though we’ll stay out of the technical stuff. Dogs welcome! Meet at the off-road parking area near the intersection of Fortini Road and San Vicente Road, where the trailhead is clearly marked. If you are running late, call Audrey at 408-507-1059.

Monday, Nov 28 at 1:30 PM: Stanford Dish Fast-Paced Naptime Hike (Palo Alto) – Join Pippa and little Ruth for a fast-paced Stroller Hike around the loop at Stanford Dish. Meet at the guard kiosk inside the gate at the main entrance (intersection of Stanford Avenue and Junipero Serra Boulevard, Stanford). We’ll tackle these rolling hills and take in the views along this wide, paved path. It’s sunny here, so bring hats, sunscreen, and water. The goal is for kids to rest, particularly those that are reluctant to do so, so we’ll move quickly and try to keep the kids in their strollers. For information on this area or directions, see The Stanford Dish Page. If you’re running late, call Pippa at 510 621 7471.

Tuesday, Nov 29 at 9:00 AM: Stevens Creek Stroller Run (Mountain View) – Join our little Stroller Hikes running gang and learn how helpful social motivation is, for keeping a fitness regime going. We alter our pace, break locations/times, and goals to work with the group, but all members of this group are dedicated to getting a good workout and moving quickly with their kids. We’ll run, walk/run, or speedwalk this wonderful, wide, paved trail from Creekside Park toward the Bay, enjoying shade for about a mile, then some sun and breezes, before turning back to return the way we came. If you make it to the bridge and back (a common goal), the distance is about 4 miles, so this is a good training run for a 5K. Bring any kind of stroller that works for you to move quickly – some members use joggers, and others use small-wheeled strollers. We’ll play at the playground to start or end this event. Meet at Creekside Park at the intersection of Easy Street and Gladys in Mountain View. If you’re running late, call Karen at 408 800 2145.

Tuesday, Nov 29 at 4:00 PM: Rancho San Antonio Fast-Paced Hike (Cupertino/Los Altos Hills) – Join Megan and little Vera for a Stroller Hike at Rancho San Antonio in Cupertino/Los Altos Hills. We’ll do an almost entirely paved, flat path going to the farm, and possibly go past it. The road is perfect for trikes or bikes, if toddlers or young children want to ride. Any baby transport will work. Meet at the main parking lot next to the bathrooms (just past the entrance, turn right, then follow the road until it ends at the bottom of the hill). For more information or directions, see the Rancho San Antonio Page. Sorry, dogs not allowed. This hike is at least half shaded. If you’re running late, call Megan at 408-409-3206.

Friday, Dec 2 at 5:30 PM: Presidio Tree Lighting and Lantern-Lit Forest Walk (San Francisco) – Enjoy this free Presidio Trust-sponsored event, the Holiday Lights Tree Lighting Ceremony, an annual tradition. Meet at the corner of Lincoln Boulevard and Funston Avenue in the Main Post (across the street from the Presidio YMCA). Enjoy caroling and snacks, then turn on your flashlight and participate in the Evening Forest Walk, beginning at 6:15 pm. This family-friendly, 20-minute lantern walk will allow you to experience the enchanting park in the dark. For more information, visit The Presidio Trust Website.
